The Memphis Grizzlies are an American professional basketball team based in Memphis, Tennessee. The Grizzlies compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Southwest Division. The Grizzlies play their home games at FedExForum. Founded in 1995, the Grizzlies were originally part of the Vancouver-based expansion franchise that joined the NBA as part of its 1995 expansion.
Following six seasons in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, the team relocated to Memphis for the 2001–02 season and currently plays home games at FedExForum. Since their inception, the Grizzlies have been one of the most successful teams in terms of wins and attendance figures despite having never won an NBA championship or even reached an NBA Finals series. In 2012–13 season, under new coach Lionel Hollins and new General Manager Chris Wallace, the team won a franchise record 56 games and advanced to their first playoff appearance since 2006 by clinching a spot as eighth seed in Western Conference playoffs before being eliminated by eventual conference champions San Antonio Spurs 4–0 in first round series.
Two years later they would again make playoffs but lost 4–2 to Oklahoma City Thunder this time around on second round series despite setting another franchise record 57 wins during regular season campaign 2014–15 led by Marc Gasol’s Defensive Player Of Year award winning performance while Zach Randolph was named All-Star MVP at 2015 All-Star game held within city limits at Madison Square Garden New York City where Mike Conley became first ever Grizzly selected for Three-Point Shootout contest all culminating with head coach Dave Joerger being named Coach Of Month twice during same season something no other Grizzly has done previously or since then showing potential many thought could progress further if circumstances worked out differently which unfortunately didn’t happen leading up present day where current roster featuring rookies Ja Morant & Brandon Clarke plus veterans such as Jonas Valanciunas Jaren Jackson Jr De’Anthony Melton Kyle Anderson Grayson Allen Tyus Jones Dillon Brooks & Bruno Caboclo is looking forward fighting its way back into postseason yet again after five year absence which would surely be welcomed sight from fans across world who have followed team through thick thin over past 25 years.
