The Dallas Cowboys are one of the most storied franchises in all of American professional sports, and have a history that goes back over 100 years. They were originally founded as the Dallas Texans in 1960, and became a member of the American Football League (AFL) in 1960. They played their first season in Texas Stadium, which was also home to the Houston Oilers.
In 1971, they merged with the NFL’s Washington Redskins to form the Dallas Cowboys, and moved to Texas Stadium (now known as AT&T Stadium) in Arlington. The Cowboys have since won more division titles (10) than any other NFL team, and have appeared in more NFC Championship Games (8) than any other team. They have also been Super Bowl champions twice (1972 and 1995), and are one of only four teams to win back-to-back championships.
