The Atlanta Falcons are a professional American football franchise based in Atlanta, Georgia. The Falcons compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) South division. The team plays its home games at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, located in downtown Atlanta. They are one of two NFL franchises based in Georgia; the other is the Atlanta Falcons’ rival, the New Orleans Saints. Founded on June 30, 1965, as an expansion team under original owner Rankin Smith Sr., the Falcons joined the NFL that same year and has been competing ever since as part of the NFC South Division. In their 53 seasons of play so far, they have compiled a record of 324–404–6 with divisional championships in 1980, 1998 and 2004 and appeared five times in conference championship games—the most recent being Super Bowl LI against New England Patriots—and two appearances in Super Bowls: XXXIII and LI which were both losses for them.
The franchise is owned by Arthur Blank who bought it from Taylor Smith Jr., son of Rankin Smith Sr.. Thomas Dimitroff is currently serving as general manager while Dan Quinn is head coach since 2015 season replacing Mike Smith who was fired after 2014 season where he had 5 losing seasons out of 6 years of coaching tenure with him. The current roster consists mostly veteran players including quarterback Matt Ryan —who won his first MVP award for 2019 regular season—and wide receiver Julio Jones —who holds many records across all receiving categories—as well as running backs Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman plus defensive tackle Grady Jarrett among others like safety Keanu Neal or linebacker Deion Jones who have become prominent names over time within their organization and around league circles too due to their respective performances over past couple years now too respectively speaking here overall still then ultimately though this also includes some potential future stars such as wide receivers Calvin Ridley or Russell Gage alongside other newer talents like cornerback Isaiah Oliver or tight end Hayden Hurst just to name few more names at least somewhat that could be seen having large roles coming up soon enough potentially even if not right away yet though all things considered either way regardless these days nowadays there’s plenty reason why people should be following what’s happening with these guys moving forward from here on out again eventually likely soon enough too all said done finally then indeed!
